LENGTH: Normally wear European 36, but measured feet with winter socks and went up to 37. These feel roomier in the front than I'm used to, but the space in front of my toes is about 1.2 cm, which is what Anya recommends. I can always wear even thicker socks or fool around with insoles.
INSOLES: Speaking of which, these do not have removeable insoles.
TOEBOX: The width is perfect for me (9.9 cm, with the socks on). Worth noting: the height of the toebox is good for my high volume big toes (for reference, my Vivobarefoot Primus Lites are wearable but do cramp those toes vertically). Anya notes that Mukishoes are good for medium to high-volume feet, and that helped me decide to go with this brand.
ZIPPER AND LACES: I'm not sure I trust the zippers to hold up. The teeth, I mean, not the sewing. Having said that, they do seem to be responding well to a wax stick made for "lubricating" zippers.
The boots came laced in a backwards way,. The shoelaces themselves were different lengths (54 and 58 in); I also don't particuarly like the feel, but they are likely made of some sort of environmentally beneficial recycled material. Obviously, this should not keep you from ordering these boots!
OVERALL: The boots are light, and the leather is very comfortable (as other reviewers have commented). I think they will develop a wonderful patina over time. Wearing them makes me feel like a Siberian ice princess with a big smile on her face.
The customer service rep at Anya's Shop was quick and helpful with sizing. Thanks to Anya and her shop for making all the wonderful shoes and boots available.
I very carefully measured my feet and read Anya's reviews and did a lot of research of various brands and fits before buying these. I got a size 39 which is the biggest size I've ever worn. I wear 37 in Birkenstocks and danskos and a 38 in Alegria if that helps.
I have special needs feet; very wide toe box, very high arches and instep, narrow heels/ankles, had bunion surgery years ago that caused a lifetime of other problems, and now I have painful arthritis in my big toe joints.
These fit my custom orthotic insoles and my high instep if I make the laces pretty loose. They are VERY comfortable.
I bought these last year and got a lot of use out of them, but I live in Phoenix so boot season is very short, and I figure I've just barely broken them in :)
They are a great, extremely adjustable barefoot combat boot that looks pretty cool and is versatile w pants, cropped flares, and midi length dresses. This year I think I'm going to switch out the laces for pink ones. I'm also going to take them to a cobbler to see if they can put some thicker soles on them since i need firmer soles w my foot issues.
I just couldn’t take it off as soon as I put it on - these are extremely comfortable. I love them.
These boots are the best thing that I've ever put on my feet. I had been eyeing them for some time, and the stock and my budget finally aligned. They're thin and flexible and the style is wearable with almost anything. I do wish that they were wider in the toebox, but compared to my regular winter boots, these feel amazing.
