My ONLY complaint, is the sound when I walk. The material around the cuff of the inside of the boot just makes a funny sound, almost like a squeak..for lack of a better term 😅 if they did not make this sound I would give them 5 stars. It doesn’t seem to matter if I tie them looser or tighter. They make a sound with every step. The quality is excellent, they are really well made! They are also exceptionally comfortable. The toe space is amazing. For reference I am a woman, size 9 with wide and thick feet. My foot measures 10.5cm wide and 25cm long. I ordered size 40. I got them before Christmas so I’ve had them for about a month and have been wearing them almost every day for work. I stand on my feet a lot of the day on concrete floors. I added a wool insert to help keep my feet warm and that’s been nice!
I wore these boots exclusively for 2 weeks on a trip in the PNW. I used a waterproofing treatment recommended by Anya on her site. Dirt trails to sidewalk they were very comfortable. The zig zag treads helped with hiking. The soles broke in quickly. They don't feel as barefoot as my hurache sandals, but I am ok with boots having more structure. You do need to sit down to loosen the laces and tighten them but I don't mind that. I like the old school classic hiking boot look of them.
I tried these from Anya’s in the Chocolate in a 40; I’m normally a 9.5/40/41 (depends on the shoes), though I’m finding with barefoot/natural footshape shoes I’m leaning towards 41. My feet are 25.9cm, for reference. I can totally see what folks mean about the heel rubbing with the seam- I felt it with the size 40. The 40’s also felt a tad too short, so I sent them back. I got a size 41 and they are PERFECT. No heel rubbing. Moral of the story: find the right size, that’s the trick!
I've had these Nevada's for about a month & was complimented on them by someone at work and they turned out to be another Anya's customer. I have Taylor's bunions which makes my toe box pretty wide, and my foot has also started to expand since letting my toes splay which makes sizing even harder. I was looking for a combat style boot for rainy season in the pacific northwest and I love the look of the Nevada's. I wish it zipped up to make it faster putting on/taking off but I guess you can't have everything. I did consider Be Lenka's Chelsea boot, but my toe box hung over the outside just slightly, and the Nevada's just fit in the right spot for my feet. The sole is slightly thicker than other barefoot boots, but that was a plus for me since I am still working on strengthening my feet. I wear them to work in office/urban settings, but I'm also active and moving around all day, may even need to run around outside and I have found the sole has plenty of cushion for me.
I was worried they'd rub my heel, but if I lace the ankle part tightly that's not an issue, and since they are lace up not zipup I can make that adjustment. As others have noted they are sometimes slippery on wet and smooth surface. I haven't fallen or gotten hurt, but noticed I didn't have traction a few times when it was rainy/muddy. Since I am not using them as hiking boots and more of an all-around shoe this isn't an issue for me. Perhaps the more I wear them in they will get grittier.
