It didn't say it in the description, but the ankle straps are removable - and actually arrive unattached to the shoe. So the shoe can be worn as just a slide. And the straps have a hook system, which means you don't have to mess with the holes on the straps once you get the perfect fit. I got them in the chocolate color, and I love them. I have a slender ankle, and will need to tuck the end of the strap in the back of the shoe, but they look fine like that. Only minor disappointment for me is the fact that they're not actual leather, but I know for some people this is a plus. Lovely, elegant sandal - but a little to spendy for me to buy both colors now. I would consider another color in the future if they remain on Anya's site.
We're so happy to hear that you love these so much! We hope to continue to offer these, so be sure to check our newsletter to stay informed. :)
Over the years, I've bought sooooo many (read: toooooo many) barefoot shoes that were striving for dressy-ness (or at least a certain kind of... *refinement*?) and, frankly, not quite hitting the mark for me. Straps too thick to look chic, foot bed too casual to look event-worthy, shape coming off much too much like a sad, lesser version of a conventional dress style. It's not hard to make a barefoot shoe that is stylish and looks great -- there are plenty out there, and I own (toooooo) many! But I haven't found a barefoot dress shoe that I felt I could wear to an *EVENT* without feeling the need to (mentally) apologize or basically, like, hide my feet whenever possible.
Enter these beauties. The minimal lines, leather look, snazzy (but subtle) hardware, and super cool strap design are EVERYTHING. They are quietly sexy and NOT just "for a barefoot shoe." I expect my biggest (only?) challenge will be not wearing them so much that they cease to be a *special occasion* choice. AND I will gladly shoulder that burden. (The brand website offers them in a few additional colors, including a rose gold option. If Anya starts carrying those, I will be the first to order them as my *special-special occasion* pair.)
Finally, I have a wide (not extra wide) foot and these are fine for me. The narrowest part is the arch/midfoot, and I actually like how it kind of disappears under my foot there. Adds to the refined look. The ankle and instep straps are adjustable, although the instep one has a smaller range. I have a medium instep, and it's fine for me -- high instep beauties might not have enough strap to get a comfortable fit.
Wow! What a thoughtful review, Sarah! Thank you so much for taking the time to guide others purchasing this shoe and we're SO glad you're enjoying your new sandals. Take care!
