Since I purchased these boots in November, I have logged wearing them in my Stylebook app 48 times. I have worn these boots on several hour-long walks, including in heavy snow, and they have held up beautifully (note: I weatherproofed these boots with Otterwax). I have also gotten SO many compliments on them — from complete strangers to my younger brother (who I don’t believe has ever otherwise expressed an opinion on my clothing in his lifetime).
I would normally get a size 38 by the size chart, but I sized up one and added wool inserts in the bottom. I loosened the laces as the weather got colder and my socks grew thicker and have been tightening up the laces as the weather warms up and I move from heavy wool socks to thinner tights; I love that the laces allow for this kind of flexibility. I will note that it did take a bit of walking to break these in: the first three days of use gave me terrible blisters on the backs of my ankles, but since then they’ve broken in beautifully and I have walked for hours in these with no discomfort.
These are the most expensive shoes I have ever owned, but I absolutely think they were worth every penny. They are obviously gorgeous, but I have been extremely impressed by their performance in both warmth and comfort, and I have no doubt that with proper care they will continue to be fabulous and functional for years to come.
Margaret! This is so exciting to read! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We greately aoppreciate the support and hope you continue to feel amazimg in your Empire boots.
I'd been eyeing these for years and had suspected the toe box wouldn't work for my square feet, and unfortunately that has been confirmed. Which is so so sad because they are BEAUTIFUL boots. God they're beautiful. And the leather is so soft. :( for others, I have an average instep and adding the extra cushion north sole insoles were quite a tight fit. The low volume thing is no joke. This would be a 5 star boot if it had more space for insoles and a more shape inclusive toe box.
I just got these so I can't speak to much of their lasting qualities, but I wanted to come and give sizing input in case it helps anyone.
Left Foot 25.5 cm, Right foot 26 cm. 10 cm wide. Medium Width. Plateau 2 shape.
I first purchased a 40 and exchanged it for a 41. In the 40, my toes just hit the ends of the shoes. In the 41 they don't touch, but don't feel too big or sloppy. I tried on with tights, but should have room for socks as well! Room for my toes to splay.
Happy hunting!
The boots fit nice, moved well and looked great but, the leather was terrible quality. I'm not even sure it was real leather. Unacceptable for that price point.
Hello - we appreciate you voicing your concerns. Rest assured that the leather is real, top-grain cow leather (as confrimed by Peerko themselves). It's common for shoes to have a coating atop leather to both protect it and create uniformity in look. Love these! So worth it!
