The Ahinsa Jaya is a barefoot combat boot made from soft, waterproof, leather-alternative material. They have a nice wide toe box and are super thin and flexible. A side zipper makes for easy on-off. The interior is lined with soft microfiber, and one shoe in a size 37 weighs only 8 oz! For being such a stylish boot, they are like wearing air!

Fit Type:
  • Toe box: Plateau. Best for Plateau feet, but will also work for Mountain or Sloped feet (see Anya's post on foot types).
  • Volume: All foot volumes. Laces allow for adjusting the fit to all foot volumes (see what is foot volume?).
  • Width: Extra-Wide. Great option for especially wide feet.
  • Sizing: True to size. Reference the size chart below to find your correct Ahinsa (EU) size based on either foot length or your typical US size.

Love them

I bought these a couple months ago and they are my go to leather boots for winter - the zipper plus laces means you can fit them perfectly but get them on and off easily. Also love the fact they are waterproof and don’t scuff. I got my normal size 38 and it’s perfect with a medium weight sock . I think they look quite stylish ! I wear them as combat boots . Appreciate the much cheaper shipping from within the US - shipping from Europe is too much for me!

Feel cheap

I generally avoid "vegan leather" because it's just plastic but was assured by reviews that this would be tougher and more durable. Maybe it is in practice, but it felt very cheap to me.

Additionally, and this may just be a problem with minimalist/barefoot-style boots in general: these really do look like clown shoes. I had a friend drop by the day I got them and she took a look and confirmed the same without me even saying anything. I've only ever bought sneaker-ish barefoot shoes in the past and they look relatively normal, but it's much worse in boot form for some reason. Bummer.

Pros: They were comfy and did feel relatively warm; plastic does trap heat well. The zip makes them easy to put on while the laces allow you to adjust fit (though the insole scrunches up super easily; I'd have replaced these for sure). But I'd ultimately much prefer my wool Wildling shoes for casual wear.

Item is good. I’m between sizes and they were sold out of 41. One issue with the item is the tongue is not gusseted at all, so the boot is less water resistant than it could be.
