Just my personal experience
-Great upper material. Still shiny and not too creased after lots of wear and aftercare.
-Great zero drop.
-Looks good, I have gotten compliments.
-Huge plus for me: Almost a slip on.
^Except that if you don't zip up at least a little, your zippers will be on the ground.
-Good toe box. Doesn't go the very widest, but good wiggle room.
-Flimsy ankle loop. Not stitched securely enough to actually help you pull on the shoes.
-Okay sole. Slippery on my vinyl/linoleum work spaces. But I do have good sensation, good flexibility.
I am pretty happy with this shoe still. But it helped me get ever pickier for next time. ;)
I searched for a long time for barefoot chelsea boots with a bit of structure rather than the soft "foot glove" style most barefoot companies produce. I was also looking for a medium brown leather, not too warm/tobacco and not too cool/taupe. Finally, I wanted a relatively low shaft height; I find barefoot boots that rise a few inches over the ankle + not fitted ankle opening = unflattering. So, the Shapen Ivy ticked all the boxes! The leather is not matte, so I was worried that they would look plasticky in real life, but they are beautiful. I was also concerned about the zipper location on the outside of the boot instead of on the inside, but the ankle opening is wide enough on me that the zipper is never under tension. My minor complaints about the Ivy relate to my foot anatomy. My feet are 23cm and 9cm wide. I usually wear a 37 in chelseas, but I went with 36 based on the size chart. My toes sit right up against the front of the boots, but I couldn't go up to 37 or the ankle opening would've been way too loose. Also, I wish Shapen would make their boots in the narrower width that they offer on their dress shoes! Last note, I have the 2022 model with the black sole, but they have switched to a matching brown sole on the brown boot which looks great in pics. Overall, beautiful boots that elevate black leggings and a sweater to a somewhat dressy outfit :)
I LOVE these boots, the zipper really elevates the style. I think the price is a great value for what you get also. The boots are fantastic for date night & are dressier than my Peerko Frost & Mukishoes Chelsea! The sole isn’t quite as flexible as Peerko or Mukishoes and Anya isn’t joking about the boot digging into the heel at first! I just wore nice thick socks and I am taking it slow wearing them a few hours each time.
I love these Shapen Ivy boots so much! I practically lived in them last fall and winter keeping my feet healthy, comfortable and warm. I live in VA, so it’s never super cold (for long). They’re such a mood booster because they look great and elevate your look instantly. I have the brown and black.
Note: I has/have plantar fasciitis and went so far as to have the plantar fasciotomy in 1 foot 2 years ago. That foot is now a bit wider than the other foot. These shoes accommodate that without the other shoe feeling too big.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND these shoes!
Great little barefoot ankle boot—very comfortable with a nice wide toe box. My only criticism is that the zippers are on the outside if the ankle which makes the boot a little harder to zip and unzip easily, but this offers great practice in balancing, so not really an issue if you have relatively good balance or don’t mind sitting down to take out them on and take them off. Cute, casual, and super comfy!
