I tried these because they're in the shop's "extra wide" section.
I first ordered a 37 based on the size chart but it was way too small, so I returned them and ordered a 38. My pinky and big toe both touch the sides of the shoe and I have basically no splay room. My feet went numb from a few minutes of wear, even with the laces as loose as possible. Removing the insoles makes the midsole rub against the sides of my feet and didn't help with numbness. I was hoping these would be better than Lems and Altra, which are also not wide enough for me but at least have a stretchy fabric upper material. I think the Zings being made of such stiff material makes the narrowness even more of an issue.
One of the shoes also had some weird shiny patches on the toe box that won't come off so I'm skeptical about the quality given the price.
Thanks for sharing your feedback! It sounds like you could use even more space in the toebox. We would recommend Realfoot or Bohempia (wide width) as options to consider. They will be wider than the Barebarics, Lems, or Altra shoes you have tried. Best of luck in your search! Let us know if we can be of any additional help.
First i ordered a pair of splays, they weren’t worth it to me. Then I went with the Koels and they were comfortable but the white shoes had a very grey tone and I couldn’t find laces that looked right. Finally I went with the Zing and I immediately knew these were the ones for me. They feel premium and are the most comfortable I’ve worn of the three. I’m usually a men’s 10.5, i went with a size 44 or US 11. I’m happy that I did. I took the soles out for a little more space and they feel great
I ordered these in white/beige in my normal size, and they fit perfectly. They have a cushioned innersole but still fit and bend like a barefoot shoe. They are very comfortable and stylish! They are the most mainstream-looking barefoot shoe I own. They look so good!
A lot of barefoot shoes charge 80-200 USD. These actually feel worth their price tag, even better when on sale. Detailing, construction all top tier. I will say, these are a chunky shoe. That mostly is noticable in the heel that protrudes backwards a little more than I would like, but the shoes look excellent. Work well with shorts, jeans, and probably chinos.
I tried Splay 101s and these are more friendly to wide midfoot feet and people with low/no arches but maybe 1 mm more narrow in the toebox. The insoles are quite thick for a barefoot shoe (although still zero drop), but these are decently comfortable without an insoles if you are looking for more ground feel or a bit more toe volume. Or you could add your own thinner sole, which I might end up doing.
Followed size chart which followed typical sizes for me and the fit is good (size 12 M US, 46 EU).
I chose to use Anya's shop over shipping directly from Be Lenka for easier returns, if needed (fortunately not), and because I have used her website extensively so I'm happy to support her business.
One of my most favorite transitioning shoes! I will definitely be buying a backup pair!!
