I will start off by saying I love Peerko for fun shoes (like the red patent and silver pairs of boots of theirs I have), but I was looking for a plain and simple black leather oxford. All of the other options (Groundies, Be Lenka, Xero) looked a bit unsophisticated to me, where in the photos, the Peerkos looked a bit more streamlined and slightly elevated.
When I received them in person, that impression stood. They aren't patent, but they are nice and shiny, and the elegant silhouette wasn't just a trick of the camera angle in the promo photos. The sole is pretty thin/flexible - I think basically they use the same for all of their shoes, and I like it. They also came with some thin foam inserts if one wanted a little more cushion.
I haven't worn them yet but did read that they can crease pretty severely at the toes when you start walking around in them - I will probably use my thin Crease Beast inserts in them (it's a foam insert you put in a shoe on top of your foot at the front to help the shoes not crease as much) - the shoes don't feel oversized, but should have enough volume to wear the CBs comfortably, and I have a medium/med-high foot volume (I think).
To sum up, Peerko wins again and remains one of my favorite barefoot brands!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review, Allison! It's so great to hear how perfect this shoe and brand are for you and can't wait to serve you again in the future. Be well! :)
