I got these barefoot shoes recently and I really like them so far. They’ve been a great summer option for work when I don’t feel like wearing sandals but still want something light and comfortable.
Returns:
Returns through Anya’s shop were super easy. I definitely messed up my sizing at first—I originally ordered a 38, which was too small. Then I overcorrected and got a 40, which ended up being too big. I finally landed on a 39, which fits perfectly. The return process was ridiculously simple, and I got my replacement pair really fast. If you’re unsure about sizing, I wouldn’t stress about it.
Sizing:
I’m a women’s size 8, and the 39 works great for me. At first, I thought they might be too big around the ankle and a little tight in the toe box, but that improved after breaking them in. That said, if you’re used to very wide barefoot shoes, these may feel a bit narrow. I have toe spacers and can’t wear them with these. There’s still more room than traditional shoes, though, and as someone newer to barefoot shoes, I actually like that they look more subtle and not obviously “barefoot.”
Break-in:
When I first wore them, my heel slipped quite a bit—probably because the leather was stiff. After a couple of weeks, that improved a lot. I also sped up the break-in process by using leather conditioner and stretching them (I used a shoe stretcher I already had). For me, they felt pretty comfortable within 1–2 weeks.
Materials:
At first, I wasn’t a huge fan of how the leather creased—it looked a little odd with one big crease near the toe while the rest stayed smooth. But as they broke in and developed more natural creasing, they started to look much better. Just don’t expect them to stay perfectly smooth. Overall, the leather feels really durable and comfortable, and the quality seems solid.
Overall:
I’m really happy with them. They’re a good middle-ground barefoot shoe—more comfortable than regular shoes, but not as extreme as some wider barefoot styles. Great if you’re newer to barefoot shoes or want something more low-key for everyday wear.
We appreciate such a detailed review, Madison! So glad you found something that works for you!
This is a lovely shoe soft leather and flexible sole. It was too big for me but I had also ordered a smaller aize that touched the toe a bit. It they will stretch out a bit I should be good.
Love them! Wouldn't mind if it was a little lower on my heel, but they are super cute!
I was on a search for black dress flats and Ashton from Anya's customer service helped me choose these shoes--and I love everything about them! The leather is buttery soft, the shoes are extremely light and flexible, and stylish with the side cut-outs. I will start out wearing them without the insoles and when they stretch out I will probably use the insoles. Since I have ganglion cysts on my ankles I avoid shoes with ankle straps--plus I'm short and prefer a longer leg look without straps. I have wide, fairly high volume feet and these are SO COMFORTABLE. There is no flopping around (without ugly elastic around the shoes), and my toes have room on the top of the shoe. I wish they came in a cream/tan--like the Angles Fashion Ballet Flats--I would buy them in a minute. For my budget, the shoes were a bit pricey but the quality is ten stars. I also really appreciate Anya's Shop policies, since I ordered both size 38 and 39 to compare the fit before choosing the 38. I am a happy customer! :-)
I was nervous about the sizing of the shoes when I ordered them but they fit perfectly and they are SO comfortable. I measured my feet and I am about 23.3 cm and I got these in a size 37. They are actually a bit snug in the toe area but I'm sure once I break them in they will be fine. Overall, I love these shoes and I'll definitely be wearing them to work all the time!
